Fundraiser for ‘Johnny’

A fundraising campaign has been launched in memory of John ‘Johnny’ Murray, who tragically passed away on Cuilcagh Mountain.

The Roslea man, remembered as “a great friend and an even better husband”, is survived by his wife and two children. The fundraiser aims to support his grieving family during this difficult time.

A statement from the campaign organiser on JustGiving reads: “Our hearts are broken following the devastating and unexpected loss of John ‘Johnny’ Murray. His warmth, strength, humour, and unwavering love were the foundation of their home. His absence leaves an unimaginable void. As the family adjusts to this heartbreaking new reality, they need our support more than ever.”

To honour Johnny’s memory, close friends will take on the Sea to Summit Supreme challenge in Westport on November 8.

The 58km course includes a 4km run, 8km cycle, 7km mountain run up Croagh Patrick, 35km cycle, and a final 4km run. Johnny had completed the challenge before and intended to return this year.

To date the fundraiser has raised over £18,000 for Johnny's family.
