High speed 180km/h pursuit on N3

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered several grams of cocaine, a quantity of cannabis, and a number of deal bags.

A dramatic high-speed Garda chase, reaching speeds of a staggering 180km/h, unfolded on the N3 last Wednesday, November 5, after a driver failed to stop and drove through a checkpoint near Virginia.

Members of the Cavan Roads Policing Unit launched into pursuit as the offending vehicle headed northbound towards Cavan Town in a chase that lasted close to half an hour and saw the suspect driver veer off towards Stradone village before colliding with another vehicle, causing minor damage.

Even then, the driver refused to surrender and officers were forced to smash the side window to bring the dangerous pursuit to a halt.

A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered several grams of cocaine, a quantity of cannabis, and a number of deal bags.

The seized substances have since been sent for analysis before any charges can be considered.
