Virginia College all set for Annie!
Katie Forde
Virginia College students are stepping into the spotlight once again, this time bringing the much-loved family classic Annie to the stage, for a five-night run, from Wednesday, November 19.
Bursting with catchy songs, big characters, and plenty of heart, Annie promises an evening of joy, laughter, and a touch of 1930s New York magic.
After months of rehearsals, the talented cast and crew are ready to dazzle audiences with a show that celebrates hope, courage, and the belief there will always be brighter days.
Set during the 1930s in the bright lights of NYC, the musical follows an optimistic young orphan determined to find her family. Along the way she meets billionaire Oliver Warbucks, the troubled Miss Hannigan, and a variety of other colourful characters (all brought to life by a cast selected from every year group) that both aid her and interrupt her mission to reunite.
Cast
Taking on the lead role of Annie is sixth year student Madelina Orminston, whose performance promises to melt hearts with her charm.
She’s joined on stage by the kind but no-nonsense Oliver Warbucks, played by Noah Denning, Fibi Boyce, as the wickedly wonderful Miss Hannigan, and Katie Forde as Grace Farrell, Warbucks’ loyal secretary.
In addition, Ayo Akinola steps into the role of Rooster, and Sofia Giusti as Lily St. Regis, a devilish duo whose scheming and antics bring both chaos and comedy to the stage.
Behind the scenes, Ms Talbot and Ms Giusti have been guiding students through weeks of acting, singing, and dancing.
Musical numbers such as ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’ and ‘Tomorrow’ have been rehearsed to perfection, and it’s all down to their hard-work and dedication.
The show runs from November 19-23 at Ramor Theatre, with tickets available on their website. Book seats fast as they are selling quickly!
With its mix of heart, humour and toe-tapping tunes, Annie is set to leave audiences smiling long after the curtain closes, because at Virginia College, the sun will always come out tomorrow.
