The death has occurred of Michael Clerkin, Drung, Co. Cavan, on 8th February 2026, peacefully surrounded by his family at Cavan General Hospital.

Predeceased by his granddaughter Amy, his parents James and Annie and his brother Joseph.

Will forever be missed by his loving wife Pauline, and their children Anita (John), Brian (Maria), Dessie (Frances), Adrian (Julie) and Paul, grandchildren Katie, Ryan, Conor, Pauric, Aoibhín, Caoimhe, and Saoirse, sisters Philomena and Anna, brother Dominic, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Mullen's Funeral Home, Cootehill, Co. Cavan (H16 FD25) this Tuesday evening from 4pm until 6pm. Funeral cortége to arrive for requiem funeral mass on Wednesday at 12 noon in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Drung, (H12 Y409), and can be viewed live here with burial immediately afterwards in Drung cemetery.

Pre-deceased by her parents George & Marion, brothers Wesley, Dessie & Albert and her sister Alice. Deeply regretted by her loving husband James, her cherished children Gillian & Nigel, her beloved grandchildren Leona & Anais, her great grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

O’Kane (née McCarren), Valerie, 8th February 2026, Rathdown Avenue, Terenure (Formerly of Cavan town), peacefully in the wonderful care of Leeson Park Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Valerie is predeceased by her husband Cian and sister Sheila.

She will be forever loved by her sons Barra, Cian, Donal and John, her brother Andrew and sister Lorraine, daughters-in-law Jacqui and Marian, her sister-in-law Joy and brother-in-law Denis. Sadly missed by her adoring grandchildren Matthew, Louise, Neil, Sean and Barry, her great grandchildren Farrell and Farrah, nieces and nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.

Valerie’s funeral mass will be held at the Church of Saint Nicholas of Myra, Francis Street on Tuesday 10th February 2026 at 2.30 pm followed by cremation in Mount Jerome, Harolds Cross at 4pm.

Noel "Snowy" Smith, 32 Tullacmongan, Cavan Town, Sunday February 8th 2026, peacefully in the loving care of his family and the wonderful staff at Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. Predeceased by his parents Hugh and Kathleen and very recently by his brother in law Tony. Noel was dearly loved and will be very sadly missed by his loving family, Maura, Peggy Heraghty, Hubert (Teresa), Kathleen Mac Neaney (Damian), Gerry (Joan) and Andy (Fran), his nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, all his former work colleagues, his good neighbours and a very wide circle of friends.

Reposing at the Mc Mahon Funeral Home, Farnham Rd, Cavan on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 8pm. Noel's remains will leave his home in Tullacmongan on Wednesday morning at 11.30am and will travel via Main St and College St to the Cathedral of S.s Patrick and Felim, Cavan for a Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Following Mass the cortege will travel to St.Brigid's Cemetery, Killygarry for committal prayers and burial in the family plot. The death has occurred of James Patrick (Jimmy) Smyth, 103 O'Neill Park, Clones, Co. Monaghan, Sunday 8th February 2026, peacefully in College View Nursing Home, Cavan, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen, parents Violet and Terence Smyth and his brothers Brian and John Tomas (who died in infancy)

Cherished and much-loved father of Christine (Gisele). Jimmy will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his daughter and her partner Gisele, his adored and much loved grandson Marcus, sisters Ann (Mick Wylie, England) and Josie (Johnny Joel, Wales), nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, especially Gerry Douglas, Theresa and Ruth, many friends and by all who knew and loved Jimmy.

Jimmy will repose at Martin's Family Room, Newbliss, H18C962 on Wednesday 11th from 5pm to 8pm. Removal on Thursday morning 12th from Martin's family room at 10.40am arriving to the Sacred Heart Church, Clones for 11am funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in Mount St Oliver's Cemetery.
