An uplifting night out at Knockbride Variety Show
The Knockbride Variety Show returns to Tunnyduff Hall from March 25-28 with nightly performances at 8.30pm continuing a tradition that has become a cornerstone of the local social and cultural calendar.
First staged in 2009 as a community fundraiser, the show has grown steadily over the years while remaining rooted in its original purpose: bringing people together for a few hours of shared enjoyment while supporting worthy causes.
This year proceeds will benefit the Cavan/Monaghan Palliative Care Fund and Parkinsons Ireland Cavan Branch ensuring that funds raised stay local and continue to support individuals and families within the wider community.
Audiences can look forward to a lively mix of music, comedy, and dance, with performers ranging from teenagers to those bringing years of experience to the stage.
The show has long provided an important social outlet during the early months of the year and plays a valuable role in helping young people gain confidence, develop performance skills, and build friendships. A strong sense of mentorship runs throughout the production, with experienced performers guiding and encouraging those taking to the stage for the first time.
Behind the scenes, the commitment involved is significant. Following a successful run of performances at the Ramor Arts Centre in September 2025, rehearsals continued throughout the summer and picked up again in December, a major undertaking for a cast, crew, and committee who all give their time voluntarily.
Under the direction of Musical Director Thomas Hanley and Show Director Terry Brady, this year’s programme features a carefully curated selection of songs, comedy sketches, and a sparkling opening number that fans of a certain iconic pop group may enjoy.
In an era when variety shows are less common beyond local communities, the Knockbride Variety Show stands as a reminder of the role such productions once played, and still can play, in bringing people out of their homes and into shared spaces.
For music lovers, comedy fans, and anyone in search of an uplifting night out, this year’s show promises energy, and entertainment in abundance. Regular supporters and newcomers alike are encouraged to arrive early, as performances are known to fill quickly.
