TWO drivers in Cavan are among those listed by An Garda Síochána as the worst speed offenders in the country as the St Patrick's Day road safety campaign continues.
Yesterday, one motorist was detected speeding at 121 km/h or, 41 km per hour over the limit, on the regional R188 road ayt Drumnagran, Cootehill. h
Also on Monday, March 16, a driver was clocked at 25 km/h over the limit in a 100 zone on the N55 at Tullygullin, Kilcogy.
Three drivers in three days in Monaghan made the list of top speeding offenders since the An Garda Síochána St Patrick's bank holiday weekend road safety campaign started on Thursday last.
Now, there are two recorded in one day in Cavan.
In excess of 4,250 drivers were detected for speeding offences after five days of the operation.
An Garda Síochána is appealing to all road users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Drivers and all other road users are being reminded to plan ahead and organise a safe way home if socialising for St. Patrick's Day.
