U12s Ballyjamesduff win the league
In a second final CMUL contest of the day on Bailieboro grounds last weekend, the U12s hosts battled out the Championship League win against Ballyjamesduff AFC. The first half saw many Bailieboro attacks instigated by the ardent Mila Figaszewska, who dominated the midfield. However, she found it tough to connect her final pass with a striker up front.
"We started really well trying to break down a well organised Balieboro side, but chances were few and far between as they reduced us to a few half chances," was coach Paul Halpin's take. In the second half, AFC found their feet and created some good moments, but Balieboro defended well, The breakthrough came from a corner when Anna Coyle tapped in the goal from a ball by Eala Carolan.
The push for the equaliser inevitably came, but Ballyjamesduff stood their ground and maintained the 1-0 lead until the end.
"What a journey it's been with such a super talented squad of girls, their hard work has been unbelievable this is just the start of their bright future ahead," coach and chairperson Paul said after.
Ballyjamesduff now look forward take on Monaghan United in the cup final next weekend.
