€5M cocaine defendant further remanded in custody

THE 53-YEAR-OLD Lithuanian man, charged last week in relation to a seizure of cocaine estimated to be worth €5.25M, has been further remanded in custody to appear again at Monaghan District Court on Wednesday April 1.

Arunas Racyla, with an address at Highfield, Carrickmacross, is charged with possession of cocaine contrary Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 197; and also with possession of the substance for sale or supply, contrary to Section 15 of the same Act, both at Ballyloughan, Carrickmacross on March 13, 2026.

At Tuesday's sitting of the local court, Sergeant Lisa McEntee confirmed that DPP directions are still awaited.

Judge Raymond Finnegan remanded Mr Racyla, who appeared by video link, to appear again at next Wednesday’s sitting of Monaghan District Court.
