The Townhall’s Theatrical Event of the Year
Cavan’s Townhall Arts Centre is set to deliver what promises to be its theatrical highlight of 20206, as LOCO & RECKLESS PRODUCTIONS presents The Mikel Murfi Trilogy on Saturday, April 18. This rare theatrical marathon offers audiences the chance to experience all three of Mikel Murfi’s acclaimed solo performances in a single sitting.
The trilogy begins at 1pm with The Man in the Woman’s Shoes, Murfi’s widely celebrated play following the gentle, observant Pat Farnon on a simple walk to town and back in 1978. The show explores themes of love, identity, and the quirks of village life through Pat’s observations and interactions with various characters and has been praised for its unique storytelling and physical performance.
At 4pm, audiences will return to Farnon’s world in I Hear You and Rejoice, a tender and joy-filled sequel that revisits the character later in life as he embarks on a new chapter marked by love and loss.
The final instalment, The Mysterious Case of Kitsy Rainey, begins at 8pm, taking the audience on an unusual journey, where Pat, decides to investigate the life previously lived by his now wife Kitty. A story brimming with wit, surprises, and emotional resonance as Pat confronts his own truths.
Hailed as “magical” by The Times and “astonishing” by The New York Times, Murfi’s performances have captivated audiences worldwide. Tickets are €20 per play or €50 for the full trilogy.
Tickets for this special performance at Townhall Arts Centre Cavan are available from townhallartscentre.com or from the theatre box office in person or by phone on 049-4380494, Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.
