Gardaí rule out foul play in death of woman in Cavan
Second sudden death to be investigated at the same apartment complex in the past four weeks.
Gardaí have ruled out foul play following the death of a woman in Cavan town earlier this week.
The woman, aged in her early 50s, was found unresponsive at an apartment on James Connolly Street shortly after 2am on Tuesday. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where she was subsequently pronounced dead.
A post-mortem examination has since been carried out, after which Gardaí confirmed that foul play is not suspected.
A file is now being prepared for the Coroner.
The Office of the State Pathologist and the Coroner were both notified following the woman's death.
A Garda spokesperson had said the results of the post-mortem would assist in determining the direction of any investigation.
This was the second sudden death to be investigated at the same apartment complex in the past four weeks. The other death, that of a man, was also examined, and again gardaí quickly moved to rule out any foul play as a potential cause.
