Three new gardaí for Cavan - Monaghan

Bailieborough, Cavan and Carrickmacross distrocts are to get one new garda member each

THREE additional gardaí have been allocated to counties Cavan and Monaghan today.

The probationer gardai are to take up posts in the Cavan Garda District, Bailieboro and Carrickmacross Districts.

The announcement was made just a short time ago to the Anglo-Celt.

This follows the deployment of five new officers to Monaghan, Bailieboro and the Cavan distrocts in February.

Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith confirmed the appointments made today by his party colleague, Minister of Justice Jim O’Callaghan.

Welcoming the announcement, Deputy Smith said he recently highlighted the value of strengthening community policing to the Justice Minister through parliamentary questions.

"I wish all the new probationer Gardai every success, good health and safety in their careers as they undertake important work on behalf of communities right throughout our country," Deputy Smith said.
