Cavan and Westmeath teams named for All-Ireland R1 clash

Breaking

The Cavan and Westmeath teams have been named for tomorrow’s All-Ireland R1 clash at Cusack Park, Mullingar (throw-in, 5pm).

Cavan had released their panel to the media this morning with a list of the starting 15 plus 17 subs under the heading “match day panel”.

The official GAA squad announcement has since confirmed the 11 subs who are named plus the four standby players. Missing from the earlier 32-man squad released are Ryan Connolly and Ben McGahan.

Cavan welcome back Barry Donnelly (Arva), who was handed his debut in the 2025 National League and played very well in wins over Down and Roscommon before unfortunately suffering an ACL tear in the championship win over Mayo.

Also included on the standby list is Cian Madden, who has not featured this year due to injury but was an established starter in other years. Conor Casey, a recent addition to the panel, is named on the bench and brings to seven the number of players from the Gowna club on the squad.

Ramor United’s Jensen Tynan has been called up from the U20 panel and earns a spot on the bench having reportedly impressed in a recent challenge match against Louth, which Cavan won.
