Asked and answered: Curravagh National School

Deputy Brendan Smith (FF) raised the issue of Curravagh National School in Glangevlin; a “small school” operating out of a 25-year-old prefab that “needs to be replaced”.
He said the prefab is 25 sq. m but the Department has offered a 19 sq. m replacement permanent building.
“On the advice of the Department the school partitioned that prefab some years ago so that it would have some accommodation for a shared special education teacher, English language teacher, secretary and principal space.
“The school is requesting that the additional accommodation to be provided would equal the size of its existing prefab. It is a very basic ask,” he said.
Minister Hildegarde Naughton said she will “come back” to Deputy Smith with further information.
“I can confirm that my Department is in receipt of an application for accommodation under the additional school accommodation scheme for the school,” she said.
