Man (30s) dies in Ballinamore motorbike accident

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital after the collision on Thursday but has since passed away.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim, on the morning of Thursday, June 25.

The single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred on the L1556 Ballinamore to Cloone road at around 8:40am.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 30s, was brought by air ambulance to Beaumont Hospital, Dublin. He has since been pronounced deceased.

Gardaí say a post-mortem examination will take place in due course and the Coroner has been notified.

The road was closed for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the L1556 Ballinamore to Cloone road between 8:15am and 9am on Thursday, June 25 are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.
