Plenty of action as the Club Championships begin

Wins for Bridge, Mountnugent and the Leaguers

Butlersbridge 2-18

Butlersbridge have set the tone in the Intermediate Championship O’Reilly Precast, with a comfortable victory over Bailieborough last night.

Under the blue sky at Kingspan Breffni, Butlersbridge were comfortable 11-point winners, 2-18 to 3-4.

Goals from Caoimhin O’Reilly and Killian Leddy, and a handful of 2-pointers from Cian McConnell made all the difference for Butlersbridge.

Next up for Butlersbridge is a clash with Drumgoon at the Hugh O’Reilly Memorial Park, on Saturday, 25th July.

Bailieborough’s next game is against Cnoc Bríde in Kingspan Breffni on Thursday, July 23.

Maghera MacFinns 0-6

Mountnugent 5-17

Venue: St. Bartholomew Park, Munterconnaught. Referee: Adrian O’Hanlon.

Mountnugent defeated neighbours Maghera MacFinns easily in the opening round of the Junior Championship Rudden Services Station last night.

From start to finish, it was one way traffic at St. Bartholomew Park.

At half-time, Mountnugent led by 14 points, 3-08 to 0-3, and continued to dominate in the second half.

They will be posed with a tougher test when they face Redhills in their next game, at Annalee Park in Ballyhaise on Saturday, July 25.

Maghera MacFinns will go again on Friday, July 24 when they take on Drung at Lavey GAA Grounds.

Killeshandra 1-17

Kildallan 0-7

Venue: O’Connell Park, Drumlane. Referee: Mickey Lee

Killeshandra were comfortable victors in last night’s other Junior Championship Rudden Services Station tie last night.

At half-time, there was just two-points separating the sides, with Killeshandra in front 1-6 to 0-6.

However, Killeshandra pulled away in the second half, and finished with 13 points to spare on a scoreline of, 1-17 to 0-7.

Kildallan will hope to get things back on track, when they face Templeport St. Aidan’s in the next round.

Friday's action

The Championship action continues in Cavan throughout the weekend.

In tonight’s Intermediate ties, Lavey face Shercock in Mullagh, and Denn take on Munterconnaught at Kingspan Breffni.

Throw-in in both games is at 8pm.

Meanwhile in tonight’s Junior game, Swanlinbar play Beltubet in Templeport at 8pm.

Saturday's matches

There’s a double-header in Kingspan Breffni in the Intermediate Championship tomorrow (Saturday).

The first game starts at 6.30pm, with Kilinkere taking on Ballinagh. This is followed by the meeting of Cootehill and Cornafean at 8pm.

Elsewhere, Ballymachugh meet Drumlane in Killygarry at 6pm, and Cnoc Bríde play Drumgoon at 7pm in O’Raghallaigh Park.

In the only Junior Championship game on Saturday, Lacken take on Drung in Drumalee at 6pm.

Sunday ties

There are two ties in the Junior Championship being played on Sunday.

Kill Shamrocks go up against Redhills at the Annalee Park in Ballyhaise, and Shannon Gaels are playing Templeport in Swanlinbar.
