Coimisiún to examine ’Blayney proposal

A proposed age-friendly housing development is now before An Coimisiún Pleanála after developer GEC Development and Construction Ltd appealed a decision by Monaghan County Council’s to refuse permission for it.

The appeal relates to a proposed residential development at Connabury, Castleblayney.

The original application sought permission for nine dwellings but this was revised to seven two-bed terraced dwellings, following requests for additional information during the planning process.

Despite the revisions, the application was refused by local planners who concluded that the information submitted was insufficient to enable a full assessment of the proposal.

A number of local residents also flagged concerns over road safety, the density of the development, parking, the suitability of the location and potential impacts on services.

The appeals body is expected to issue a decision by November 2.
