Leona Maguire named in European Solheim Cup team

Co. Cavan native Leona Maguire has been selected to represent Europe at this year's Solheim Cup.

The Ballyconnell woman was one of Captain Nordqvist's four wildcard picks to complete the 12 player line-up.

The competition will take place at Bernardus Golf in The Netherlands on the 11th to the 13th of September.

Of all four of the wildcard picks, Maguire brings the most experience.

It is her fourth consecutive appearance at the Solheim Cup, and she brings a stellar record with her to the Netherlands- having won 8.5 points from 12 matches.

The Europeans will be hoping to reclaim the trophy, having lost out to the US last time out, away from home.
