Slick Kingscourt make light work of Mullahoran

Kingscourt 1-19

Mullahoran 2-10

A superb 0-10 haul from Jordan Morris inspired Kingscourt Stars to an impressive six-point victory over Mullahoran at Kingspan Breffni on Friday evening.

Morris was the stand-out performer in a slick Kingscourt display, his ability to take on and beat defenders caused constant problems for the Dreadnoughts.

And while his scoring return caught the eye, there was plenty else to like about the Stars as they made it two wins from two in the Senior Championship.

Their own kick-out functioned particularly well, with Tom Martin finding a host of strong fielders around the middle in Paddy Meade, Peter Corrigan and Ciarán Dermody, while Kingscourt carried a major threat when they ran directly at the Dreadnoughts.

The fact that they have talisman Padraig Faulkner and last year’s county final Man of the Match Joe Dillon still to return to the fold only adds to the sense that the champions have pushed on since last year under manager Colin Kelly.

Mullahoran, meanwhile, had come into the game on the back of an opening-round victory over Cavan Gaels; they showed their ability in flashes but they were out-muscled, tactically out-manouvered and too sloppy in possession.
