Denn made their long run for home a successful one as they careered their way to a convincing victory in a topsy-turvy U18 Division One Football Championship final at Kingspan Breffni.

In perfect conditions, the game started off with scores being notched in machine gun-like fashion but the eventual runaway winners were hard pressed to chisel out a 0-13 to 1-8 lead at the interval and seemed destined for a long, hard day at the office.

However, the Crosskeys-based squad turned the game on its head by producing a turbo-charged second half display which saw them hold their opponents scoreless for the final 22 minutes of the match.

The final was an evenly-balanced affair in a tit-for-tat first half and the Bridge must have had genuine designs on bagging the booty when going ahead in the 27th minute.

Critically, Cian McConnell’s point, which put his side 1-8 to 0-10 in front, would be followed by just three other Bridge points over the remainder of the game.

In perfect conditions, and in line with the other servings at HQ last weekend, the game hit the ground running.
