Café blossoms into award-winning business
Blossoms by Marissa has enjoyed remarkable success just months after opening its doors in Ballyjamesduff.
In March, the Dublin Street café was named Innovator of the Year for County Cavan at the Irish Restaurant Awards Ulster Regional Final at Armagh City Hotel.
It was a major milestone for the business, which opened last December, with owner Marissa Sheerin crediting the Ballyjamesduff community for its warm welcome and ongoing support.
“The people were so lovely. The businesses here, everyone is so supportive,” says Marissa, who lives in Killinkere.
Blossoms has quickly built a loyal following for its homemade cakes, breakfasts, brunches, lunches and afternoon teas, all served with the café’s distinctive touch of sparkle.
Marissa is determined to keep everything as homemade as possible, with the team making its own products rather than relying on bought-in finished goods.
The café has also created five jobs within months of opening, with the kitchen led by Marissa’s sister-in-law, Lucka Geddis.
Marissa says she is particularly proud of the team they have built.
Local customers have also played a key role in the café’s early success, with many becoming regular fixtures.
“Without them, we wouldn’t have anything,” says Marissa.
