Ballyhaise housing development

A new residential development of 28 homes has been proposed for Townparks, Ballyhaise, Co Cavan.

The proposal, submitted by Long Garden Developments Ltd, involves the partial demolition of the existing Brady Bros public house to facilitate a new entrance to the rear site, as well as the demolition of existing outbuildings.

The plans, lodged with Cavan County Council for approval, comprise 14 two-bed and 14 three-bed houses. They are all semi-detached, two-storey houses in style. Permission is also sought for connections to public services, a new service road and entrance, and all associated ancillary works.

A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) is being submitted to the planning authority as part of the planning process.

According to a design statement prepared by Michael Fitzpatrick Architects, the overall site extends to approximately 1.51 hectares and is zoned as 'White Lands'.

The site is located adjacent to The Square and would be accessed directly from the R212, which runs through the village.

The existing public house forms part of the site entrance, and no previous planning applications have been made in respect of the subject lands.

Long Garden Developments Ltd was incorporated in March 2026 and has a registered address at Corr, Loughduff, Co Cavan, which is also the residential and business address associated with Padraig Brady Construction.

A decision on the application is due in early October.
