Vodafone says its services are now operating normally following a widespread broadband outage that affected thousands of customers across Ireland on Saturday.

Reports of disruption were recorded in Cavan and Monaghan on Saturday, and as far away as Dublin, Meath, Limerick, Wexford, Galway and Donegal, with homes and businesses reporting difficulties accessing the internet.

Outage reports rose sharply from around 3pm on Saturday, indicating the problem was affecting multiple regions.

Vodafone confirmed the disruption and said its teams were working to restore services as quickly as possible. The company apologised to customers for the inconvenience.

On Sunday morning, Vodafone reported that all services were running "as expected".

The company has not provided a detailed explanation for the cause of the outage.
