Country Music Festival raises €40K for charities

Monaghan Town Country Music Festival will donate €40,000 to 36 local charities and community groups following the success of this year’s four-day event, organisers have confirmed.

The event held back in July attracted more than 15,000 people to Monaghan Town and the donations were nominated by the festival’s volunteer stewards.

Festival organiser Julie Brannigan paid tribute to all 159 volunteers who worked to make the event a success: “This festival is proof of what can be achieved when like-minded volunteers come together for the good of others.

“We simply cannot thank our 159 volunteers enough; each one gave up their free time to support the charities close to their hearts. This donation of €40,000 is their achievement.”

Organisers also thanked local businesses, Monaghan County Council, emergency services and An Garda Síochána for helping ensure the event ran safely and smoothly.

Ms Brannigan concluded by thanking everyone involved, saying: “This festival belongs to the people from the statutory organisations, businesses, volunteers and festival goers who give their time, energy and heart to it.”

The committee is already planning for next year’s festival, provisionally scheduled for July 15-18, 2027, and is encouraging new volunteers to participate.
