Trump’s son says Belturbet nanny ‘big part of who I am’
THE middle son of Donald Trump has described his Co Cavan nanny, Dorothy Curry, as “my second mom”.
Eric Trump made the comments during an interview on RTÉ Radio 1 ahead of the Irish Open golf tournament which, this year was hosted by Trump International Golf Links & Hotel Ireland in Doonbeg, Co Clare.
The 42-year-old businessman said his nanny brought him to County Cavan “every single year of my life growing up”.
“She is a big part of who I am today,” he added.
Eric Trump also revealed that Dorothy Curry had spent the weekend with members of the Trump family just before he came to Ireland for the Irish Open. The younger son of Donald J. and Ivana Trump was responding to a question put to him by RTÉ broadcaster, Katie Hannon, about comments made about the US President by Rosie O’Donnell.
The American actress and comedian said she left America to live in Ireland because she said she didn’t want to live in a country where Donald Trump was president. "He is the antithesis of everything this country stands for," she said.
In his response, Eric Trump said Rosie O’Donnell “doesn’t have a platform”.
“I’m not sure she is the spokesperson for the Irish people,” he said and suggested reporters go to Morrisseys Tavern in Doonbeg where they would hear from a “real Irish person” if they like Donald Trump and the Trump family.
“Go talk to the woman who raised me and brought me to County Cavan every single year of my life growing up,” Eric Trump continued.
“You know, go ask her what her friends think of our family and the love we have shown this country.”
On his Irish nanny, Eric Trump said: “She’s my second mom. She spent the weekend with us last weekend. And she’s a wonderful person, a big part of who I am today.
“I tell you; I take a lot more credence from those people than I do from Rosie O’Donnell.”
IRISH NANNY
Dorothy Curry from Belturbet was the Irish nanny of Donald Trump’s three children with Ivana Trump, Donald Jr, Eric and Ivanka.
After Ivana Trump passed away in 2022, the New York Post reported on her last will and testament when it became public that she left most of her fortune to her three children and a $1 million Miami Beach, Florida apartment to her former nanny.
She also left her pet dog to Dorothy Curry.
'I give and bequeath my dog, Tiger Trump, and any other pet that I may own at the time of my death to my friend, Susanna Dorothy Curry,' the document states according to the Post.
Ivana even wrote about Curry in her 2017 book 'Raising Trump' — remembering her starting to work as a nanny for the family “with a sparkle in her eye and plenty of nervous energy”. After the Trump children grew up, Ms Curry worked as Ivana’s assistant.
Dorothy Curry started working for the Trump family the year Eric was born in 1984, helping raise him from a baby.
