Celt reporters amongst the winners at national awards bash

Celt pick up trio of awards at Local Ireland Media Awards

Reporters at The Anglo-Celt were amongst the biggest winners at tonight's prestigious Local Ireland Awards.

The Celt's newsteam picked up three awards at the gala event in Mullingar Park Hotel, hosted by popular Lyric FM presenter, Marty Whelan. The Local Ireland Awards bring together the finest talents from local and regional newspapers across the Republic.

Reporter Gemma Good was the biggest winner of the night scooping a brace of awards. The Killeshandra woman won the 'Best Use of Digital' award for her ambitious documentary and print series exploring the issue of 'Money Mules' in County Cavan. She also won the 'Best Diversity Journalism' award for her series of interviews with members of the Traveller Community.

Meanwhile Senior Reporter Seamus Enright won Best News Series for 'One Foot in the Rave', an exceptional series of articles which Celt editor Linda O'Reilly had the makings of a Netflix series.

This win is a remarkable achievement for the Belturbet native following his success last year when he won 'Best Feature Journalist of the Year' for his story 'Tainted Kilnacrott heads in a new direction'.
