Funeral of former principal announced

Further to yesterday's announcement of the death of former Beech Hill College principal Patrick (Paddy) McArdle, his funeral arrangements have now been confirmed.

Mr McArdle, of Drumlandrick, Castleblayney, passed away peacefully at St James's Hospital, Dublin, on Wednesday, September 23, surrounded by his loving family following an illness.

Predeceased by his father Michael, he is survived by his wife Mary and sons Caleb, Zachary, Nathan and Tim. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Kathleen, brothers Brendan, Raymond and Dermot, sisters Cathriona, Michelle and Evanne, his wider family circle, colleagues, neighbours and many friends.

Patrick will repose at Ward's Funeral Home, Castleblayney, on Friday, September 25, from 3pm until 8pm.

Removal on Saturday morning from the family home will arrive at St Mary's Park, Castleblayney, at 10.30am before proceeding on foot to St Mary's Church for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

House private at all times, please.

Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu, if desired, may be made to Castleblayney Cancer Society through Ward's Funeral Home.

Additional parking for those attending the funeral home on Friday or Funeral Mass on Saturday will be available at St Mary's Park GAA grounds.

As a mark of respect, the Open Night planned for Beech Hill College this evening has been postponed until next week, Thursday, October 1 at 6pm. Books of condolence are open at both the school and CMETB offices in Monaghan Town.
