George Hewitt, Crubany , Cavan, Tuesday 6th October 2026, peacefully at Monaghan Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Joe and Minnie, brothers Noel and Jimmy, brothers in law Mervyn Mc Conkey and Colin Patterson and sister in law Margaret. George will be very sadly missed by his devoted wife Eileen, his sons John and Eamonn (Daphne), his adored granddaughter Stephanie, brothers John, Tommy and Sammy, sisters Sadie and Maud, sisters in law kathleen , Ann & Margaret, nephews, nieces, all his extended family, good neighbours and many friends.

Resting at the McMahon Funeral Home, Farnham road, Cavan (H12 C821) on Thursday evening from 5pm until 8pm. George's Funeral Service will take place in Cavan Parish Church, Farnham St, Cavan on Friday afternoon at 1.30pm. Interment afterwards in the New Cemetery, Tullacmongan, Cavan Town. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu to CÚAN Cancer care, Cavan, c/o McMahon Funeral Directors, Farnham road, Cavan or donation boxes in the Funeral Home or the Church. Stella Little (nee Irwin) Greenvale, 4 Lakeview, Ballybay Road, Co. Cavan formerly Freame Mount, Dartrey, Co. Monaghan. October 7th 2026 peacefully at Cavan General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her husband Matthew Alexander Little, her brothers & sisters.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by her loving children Jacqueline, Linda, Brian and Dianne, grandchildren Craig, Daniel, Samuel, Hannah, Catherine, Sarah, Sophie and Charlotte, great grandchildren Luke, Ethan and Olivia, son-in-law Howard, Dianne’s partner Trevor, daughter-in-law Lynn, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Stella Little will take place on Monday 12th October at 2pm in St John the Evangelist’s Church, Dartrey, Co. Monaghan (H16 RX64).

Predeceased by his wife Joan and his daughter Sandra.

Much loved father of Martin (Liz), Sharon (Ray), Ken (Jenny) and Darren (Joanne). Sadly missed by his sons and daughter, his cherished grandchildren - Martin Jnr., Emma, Ciara, Niamh, Lauren, Adam, Zara, Ava, Noah and his great-grandchildren - Tadhg, Teddy and Oscar, Tilly and Bertie nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A celebration of life ceremony will take place at Matthews Funeral Home on Saturday morning at 10.00 o'clock with removal to Glasnevin Cemetery for 12.30 o'clock burial.

Whelehan Madeleine Veronica (Vera) (née Rafferty) passed away peacefully 7th October 2026 at Laurelhill House, Lisburn.

Beloved wife of the late Seán RIP, much loved mother of Kath (Mike), Anthony (Sharon), Cathal (Simone), Shane (Natalie), Sinéad (Paul), cherished granny of Kirsty, Conor, Finn, Ophelia, Eimear, Aoibh, Mae and Caoimhe, great granny of Anya, dear sister of Claire (Séamus) and the late Pat, Nano, Briege and Mehaul. She will be sadly missed by all her extended family and friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to call to Vera’s daughter Sinead’s home, 1 Edenvale Park, Dunmurry, BT17 0EJ on Saturday 10th between 2.00pm -9.00pm and Sunday 11th between 12noon - 4.00pm.

Vera will be received at St. Anne’s Church, Kingsway on Sunday 11th at 6.30pm. Requiem Mass will be held on Monday 12th October at 10.00am, followed by burial in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Drumcor, Co Cavan. Mass can be viewed online here.

Predeceased by her husband Owen, infant sons, parents James and Molly and brother-in-law Packie.

Rose will be sadly missed and remembered with love by her daughters Mary and Geraldine, son Michael, daughter-in-law Yvonne, grandchildren Ella, Conor and Darragh, sister Mena (Frankie May), brother Pat, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours, friends and by all who knew and loved Rose.

Ronan Kilmurry, Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan and formerly of Newfield, Drogheda, Co. Louth. 29th September 2026. Suddenly at his home aged 61years. Predeceased by his dad Breffni. Remembering also at this difficult time his brother Colm who passed on 5th October 2026. Sadly missed by his loving mum Esther, brother Dara, daughter Lauren and partner Jordan, son Martin and their mother Valerie, sister-in-law Miriam, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.

A service to celebrate Ronan’s life will take place in Townley’s Funeral Home, Crosslanes, Drogheda A92 XN75 on Friday 16th October at 2pm, followed by a private burial of Ronan’s ashes.

The death has occurred of Jim McGuirk, Carga, Ballybay, Co. Monaghan, on Wednesday, 7th October, peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Predeceased by his parents John and Sarah, sister Mary McAdam, brother Tommy, nephew Niall McAdam, parents in-law Packie-Joe and Kathleen Reynolds and brother in-law Patsy Reynolds.

Jim will be deeply regretted and remembered with love by his family; his devoted wife Geraldine, sons John (Orla), Gary (Nicole) and Liam (Hayley) his adored grandchildren Lottie, Seamie, Archie, Bobbie, Ayda and Isla, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Jim will repose at his residence in Carga (A75YN20) both tomorrow Thursday and Friday from 1pm until 8pm.

Removal from his residence on Saturday morning to arrive at the Most Holy Rosary Church, Tullycorbet (via Cornacrew) for Funeral Mass at 12noon followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery. Live mass here.

Cissie McKenna

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cissie McKenna, Emy, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan.

Cissie passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, 6th October, surrounded by the love and care of her family, neighbours and carers.

Predeceased by her parents, Minnie and Johnny, her sisters, Bridie Sherlock, Moira Coady and Nancy McCluskey and her brothers, Benny and Seán.

Cissie will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sisters, Roisín and Susan (Gorman); her brothers, Eamonn and Pat; her sister-in-law, Veronica; her nieces and nephews, extended family, neighbours and the many friends she welcomed into her home over the years.

May Cissie’s kind and gentle soul rest in eternal peace.
