Nighttime works underway in Cootehill water network upgrade
Works will take place from 7pm-7am until next Friday
The planned water network upgrade in Cootehill is entering a new phase, with nighttime works getting underway on the Cavan Road as Uisce Éireann steps up efforts to replace more than 350 metres of ageing cast iron mains.
Aimed at modernising the local network, strengthening the reliability of treated drinking water supplies and reducing the risk of future operational issues, the latest phase of works began this week and will take place overnight between 7pm and 7am for two weeks, with completion scheduled for Friday, October 23.
The decision to move works to nighttime hours is designed to minimise disruption for motorists and other road users during the day. However, traffic management measures will be in place each night to facilitate the works.
Peter Gallagher, Uisce Éireann’s Water Treatment Operations Manager, said the project was making strong progress since work began at the end of July.
“These upgrades will help to provide the residents and businesses of Cootehill with a more reliable supply of treated drinking water, and will reduce the risk of operational issues affecting the local network in the future,” he said, thanking impacted road users for their understanding while works are taking place.
