The opening exchanges saw both teams settling into the game, with the Lakers gradually finding their rhythm and beginning to create some excellent scoring opportunities. Some swift breaks and good teamwork led to well-taken scores from Aoibhe O’Reilly and Sarah Lowry.

Defensively, Aine McGibney was strong on the rebounds, while Jane Lowry and Emma Shannon created important turnovers that led to scores. The home side went into half-time with a 29–14 lead.
