Cosy up your home with KORE Retrofit and reduce your bills
Homeowners are being advised that they can save more than €30,000 by availing of a number of grants and retrofitting schemes to improve their home’s energy efficiency.
Kilnaleck based KORE Retrofit is Cavan’s first SEAI-registered one-stop-shop provider for a range of measures including insulation, external windows and doors, heating systems and controls, mechanical ventilation, solar PV and more.
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) is responsible for administering a number of such grant schemes in conjunction with registered providers and installers.

As winter approaches and temperatures drop, Mr Flax is urging homeowners to take charge and future-proof their home with energy upgrades.
“As SEAI’s first approved One Stop Shop provider, KORE Retrofit will look after you every step of the way, from initial assessment, design plans, and liaising with contractors, to quality assurance, technical support, grant administration and much more,” said Mr Flax. With fixed grant amounts available for a wide range of energy upgrade measures, KORE Retrofit estimates that the average homeowner can save up to €33,600!
How does it work?
The One Stop Shop Scheme is open to all homeowners in Ireland. You must increase the home’s Building Energy Rating (BER) to a minimum of B2. This includes a 100kWh/m2/year uplift or greater on your home’s BER primary energy value. Not sure where to start? KORE Retrofit’s team of energy upgrade experts can assist every step of the way.
“It all starts with a phone call to discuss your unique situation, followed by a comprehensive home energy assessment, design plan and quotation. Before any works start, you’ll receive a complete breakdown of pricing, grant amounts, materials and works scheduling. We assist with the entire upgrade seamlessly, with you in the driver’s seat,” assured Mr Flax.
KORE Retrofit works with a network of energy upgrade contractors who install a wide range of energy upgrades, as well as building contractors who assist with home extensions, including kitchen and bathroom renovations. “We can also help if you’re already working with an architect, engineer or contractor,” further advised Mr Flax.
Combining grants It’s also possible to combine the One Stop Shop grant with the Vacant & Derelict Refurbishment Grant.
The latter offers funding between €50,000 to €70,000 for homes declared vacant or derelict. Applications are made by the homeowner to the local authority and must meet qualifying criteria. Funding given for works includes demolition, sub- and super- structure works, services such as plumbing, heating, power, structural finishes and fittings. The grant can be combined with KORE’s One Stop Shop Grant Scheme, enabling homeowners with derelict homes to receive funding of up to €103,600.
Since 2014, KORE Retrofit has saved over 30GWh of energy for communities across Ireland, the equivalent of powering every home in Ireland for two years!
