Drugs and cash seizure in Leitrim

 

As part of an on going investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs in the Northern Region, gardai in Leitrim have secured two significant seizures of drugs amounting to €140,000.

Gardaí in Carrick on Shannon stopped a car at the end of last month, July 21 at approximately 7:30pm in the Townspark area of the county town.
A subsequent search of the car carried out found Cannabis Resin (subject to analysis) with an approximate street value of €135,000.

he driver and sole occupant of the car, a 50 year old male, was arrested and is currently being detained at Carrick on Shannon Garda Station under Section 2 (Drug Trafficking Act).
In a follow up search, also in Leitrim, Gardaí searched a house in Manorhamilton town and recovered further Cannabis Resin (subject to analysis), valued at approximately €5000, as well as a large amount of cash.
