Donohoe murder accused sent forward for trial

A Co Armagh man accused of the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe has been sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.
Aaron Brady (27) with an address at New Road, Crossmaglen, Co Armagh, was served with a book of evidence when he appeared before Judge Victor Blake at Cloverhill District Court last week.
He is charged murdering a member of An Garda Síochána, namely Adrian Donohoe, in the course of his duty at Lordship Credit Union, Bellurgan, Co Louth, on January 25, 2013.
A four-volume book of evidence was served on Mr Brady by Det Sergeant Mark Philips, with the court hearing that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had directed trial on indictment.
Mr Brady, who is currently in custody, was sent forward to the next term of the Central Criminal Court, which begins in October.
Kilnaleck-native Det Garda Donohoe had been on a cash escort with colleagues when he was killed during a botched robbery at Lordship Credit Union near Dundalk more than five years ago.
The married father-of-two was fatally shot when he went to investigate a car that had been driven across the exit.
