Cootehill retailers mark Black Friday

Cootehill will today host a special sale event across the town's main retailers to mark 'Black Friday'.

The local Chamber of Commerce has spearheaded the initiative as part of its pre-Christmas marketing of the town, which also includes a special eight-page Christmas feature in the current issue of The Anglo-Celt.

As the Christmas lights cascade down on the streets of Cootehill this Christmas, shoppers will be flocking to this one stop shopping centre to tick off items on their Christmas lists in a charming and festive environment.
An active Cootehill Chamber of Commerce has the town looking its best, with plenty of choice and value on offer from retailers throughout the town this festive season. Chamber president John Joe Lennon is urging consumers to shop local this Christmas; while Cootehill Chamber vouchers are also available and would make ideal gifts as they can be redeemed in any participating business in the town.
Mr Lennon said that the Chamber brought some new, younger members on board prior to the AGM in September.
“I set out some of my goals for the Chamber, which includes revitalising the businesses in the town. Whether you are turning €1,000 or €100,000 per week – every business is important – that was the message I delivered and I got a fantastic response,” Mr Lennon told the Celt.
“At the AGM under the guidance of our PRO Conor McCrystal, a traders sub-committee was established to handle the various promotions during the year, with the full support of the Chamber.
“They have already done brilliant work and we will have a voucher system operating in the town this Christmas. The vouchers will be available in the town from this week and will be cashed by any of the businesses in the town. The vouchers will be in denominations of €10 and €20,” added Mr Lennon.

Open for business
The message, according to the Chamber chief, is that “Cootehill is open for business” and the Chamber also has a new vice president Mary Lennon.
“I am very pleased with where the Chamber is heading and I am very hopeful for the future,” said Mr Lennon.
“I would like to wish all the traders, shoppers and all of you a very happy Christmas,” he added.
