Smith leading the Euro way locally but will it be enough?

With 37% of the boxes tallied the European picture is becoming a little clearer in Cavan Leisure Centre with Brendan Smith leading the way - yet it still seems unlikely to be enough to ensure the Fianna Fáil man a seat when the whole constituency is counted.
Brendan Smith has 3,843 (34%) votes, with Mairead McGuinness continuing her good showing across the constituency by significantly out-polling Monaghan man Matt Carthy.

Supporters of McGuinness and Carthy will have a fairly relaxed afternoon, while outgoing MEP Luke Ming Flanagan, Green starlet Saoirse McHugh and McGuinness's running mate Maria Walsh all look to be the strongest runners bidding for the remaining two seats, when the whole constituency's terrain is taken into account.

European Tallies at a glance:
Brendan Smith  (FF) 3,843 (34%)
Mairead McGuinness (FG) 2,666 (24%)
Matt Carthy (SF) 1,720 (15%)
Luke Ming Flanagan (IND) 743 (7%)
Peter Casey (IND) 578 (5%)
Saoirse McHgh (G) 503 (5%)
Maria Walsh (FG) 461 (4%)
