GOT prequel filming concludes this week

 

Filming for the Game of Thrones (GOT) prequel at the Marble Arch Caves on the Cavan-Fermanagh border is set to conclude tomorrow (Wednesday, June 26) before reopening this week.

The Global GeoPark and its series of natural limestone caves located near the village of Florencecourt were closed off to the public as American Television Network HBO moved on site to film scenes for the GOT spin-off series.

Filming for new show, which is not expected to hit screens until 2020 at the earliest, also saw the Cladagh Glen closed off since Monday, June 17.

There has been a strong security presence on site throughout the past week and a half to avoid any over enthusiastic fans from leaking images from the set.

Its understood that those successful following a recent casting call for “long haired males 18+” have, and as been done previously, been forced to sign strict non-disclosure agreements before taking up parts as extras.

Signs directing cast and crew to the the Marble Arch location were coloured bright orange and included an image of a woolly mammoth.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council confirmed filming was taking place, and March Arch Caves management apologised for any inconvenience caused by the unscheduled closure of the caves.

Filming meanwhile is also taking place at the Titanic studios in Belfast.
