House fire dealt with at Gallows Hill

Members of two fire brigade units were called to quell a blaze at a vacant and dilapidated property at Gallows Hill, Cavan Town.
There had been some local concern that a person may have been trapped in the property at the time, however, a spokesperson for Cavan County Council confirmed that no persons needed to be evacuated.
The blaze broke out at around 5.20pm on Sunday evening last, July 7.
“Two appliances from Cavan Town fire brigade, backed up by Belturbet brigade, attended a fire at a vacant property at Gallows Hill, Cavan Town. Fire fighters, utilising breathing apparatus, brought the fire under control,” the council spokesperson confirmed.

 

Truck fire
Meanwhile, units from Cavan Town Fire Brigade were once again called into action on Monday afternoon last, July 9, to deal with a truck that had gone on fire on the Kilnaleck Road in Ballinagh.
Two appliances from Cavan Town Fire Brigade responded to the truck fire, which was brought under control.
“The vehicle was returned to the control of the vehicle owner,” the council spokesperson noted.
