Mullahoran and Cavan Ladies star Aishling Sheridan was one of 18 Irish women selected to feature in the 2020 AFLW season. Also among these names are the Kelly sisters from Mayo and Dublin duo Sinead Goldrick and Niamh McEvoy.

Sheridan made the move last November having put pen to paper at Collingwood FC joining Mayo’s Sarah Rowe who played with the club in 2019.

It’s been a dream start to AFLW life for Sheridan as Collingwood have made it two wins from two with the season kicking off on Sunday February 9. The Pies have put in some impressive performances to date in the AFLW league showing massive improvements already from their 2019 campaign which saw them record only one win.

Sheridan made her debut in the opening round against West Coast Eagles at Victoria Park, a team which gave debuts to Niamh and Grace Kelly. Sheridan who was selected as a cross-code rookie during the 2019 AFLW trade period put in a confident performance showing how quickly she has adapted to life in Australia.

In round two, Collingwood took on old rivals Carlton for whom Fermanagh native Joanne Doonan lined out for. Sheridan was on hand to help the Pies secure their first win ever over Carlton. Aishling starred in the 15 point victory for her new side scoring her first competitive Aussie Rules goal at the start of the second quarter and finished the game with three marks and 14 disposals.
