Ed Reavy Weekend
Where: Mostly Cavan Town
When: October 15-18
What: Four day Traditional music festival. Welcome session on Thursday, October 15 in Gallonray House. Memorial Mass on Sunday, October 18 at 10am followed at 11pm with visit to Ed’s homestead. Refreshments after in Gallonray House. See p24-25 for full line-up.

Quiz night

What: Cornafean Ladies GFC are hosting a quiz night. They are also launching the new ladies’ football crest. All support would be greatly appreciated. €40 per table of 4.

Reunion and quiz
Where: Farnham Arms Hotel, Cavan

What: Royal School Cavan Past Pupils Association presents 2015’s big reunion and fun table quiz. For past pupils of all ages. Tables of four €20, starting at 8pm, followed by reunion at 10pm.

What: Carrigallen National School Parents Association host this table quiz. Admission €10 per person; four to a table. Raffle for some spot prizes. €100 1st prize, €60 2nd and €40 3rd up for grabs!

Earnán Gilleran CD Launch
Where: Church of the Immaculate Conception, Belturbet
When: Friday, October 16
What: Earnan Gilleran will launch his CD “I Seek I Ask” with a concert. He will be accompanied by a seven piece band and guest soloist Sharon Lyons who features on the CD. The CD consists mainly of hymns, all composed by Earnan - many for special occasions in the church. The Cavan Rugby Club Male Voice Choir are guest performers on the night. Admission €10 and tickets available from choir members or at the door. Doors open at 7.30pm, concert starts at 8pm. Proceeds in aid of Cancer Research.

Tavern Told Tales
Where: Ballinamore Library
When: Friday, October 16, 8pm
What: Launch party for 'Tavern Told Tales’, a collection of stories and poems from Leitrim and Fermanagh by members of Fermanagh Writers. Everyone is warmly invited to join the celebration. Short readings from the anthology and lots of craic with some light refreshments.

Emerald Storm Concert

What: Gowna GAA are running a seated concert in the featuring Emerald Storm. Tickets are on sale at the Hotel and some local shops or ask any member of the Club. It is hoped that other clubs will support them in this fundraiser.

Birdwatching

What: Cavan branch are meeting up with the Sligo branch to visit some of their favourite sites. They hope to see many species of winter migrants. This event is free and both members and non-members are welcome. If you are new to birdwatching and would like to give it a try, do come along!
