Quiz in Aid of Malawi
Project
Where: Loughbawn Hotel
When: Friday, June 3 at 10pm
What: Table of four €40; proceeds of quiz going directly to fund life- changing projects for young people in Malawi Africa. Bronagh Fleming (Volunteer) and 12 students from Coventry University would greatly appreciate your support.

Jive Night
Where: Shantully Inn, Crossdoney
When: Friday, June 3, 9.30pm
What: Lacken Camogie Club in conjunction with SOSAD Cavan are holding a Jive Night. Music by The Ramblers. Admission €10. Finger food will be served on the night.

Walk For Erica
Where: Cootehill
When: Friday, June 3, 7.30pm
What: There will be a 5k walk for Erica, grandaughter of Seamus and Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Station Road. The walk starts from St Michael’s Church carpark.

Cavan County Fleadh
Where: Swanlinbar
When: Friday, June 3 to Monday, June 6
What: Cavan Fleadh launch on Friday, June 3 with Gearoid McKiernan Cavan GAA Captain, Renowned Cavan pipers McKeaney Sisters and current All Ireland Flute Champion Cian Sweeney will be on the Gig Rig.
Special Fleadh Mass on Saturday, June 4 at 7pm. Sets Ceili on Saturday evening with Long Note Ceili Band in St Mary’s Hall. On Sunday popular folk group Eriu will be on the Gig Rig from 4.30pm and there will be a 1916 Heritage Fleadh Parade at 5pm. Traditional customs and heritage will be on display. At 7.30pm in St Mary’s Hall - The Pram that helped the Rising (See story above). The Welcome Inn, Swanlinbar will be serving food all day Friday 3, Saturday 4, Sunday 5 and Monday 6 June during the Fleadh. See p12 for preview.

Heritage Exhibition
Where: Stuarts old shop, Killeshandra
When: Saturday afternoon, June 4
What: Heritage Exhibition of memorabilia, old photographs and a video of Killeshandra. If you have any old photographs do bring them along we would love to see them. Meanwhile some traditional crafts such as wood turning, butter churning, weaving, basketry and an old forge will be displayed in the yard behind shop - come along, it’s free.

Car wash fund raiser
Where: Maudebawn Creamery
When: Saturday, June 4 from 10am-1pm
What: Foróige annual car wash fund raiser. Please support. Great value car wash, only €5 per car.

Music session
Where: Aughakillymaude Mummers Centre

What: Usual monthly music session (including song and prose) in the venue near Derrylin. Usual cuppa and chat.

What: Killinkere juvenile club members host the annual Sponsored Walk which is always enjoyable for all the family. Looking forward to seeing a big crowd!

Jamboree Live Music

What: Rhythm & Sticks headline the Jamboree Jive Weekend. Tickets on the door €10 each; prizes for best Jivers!

High Nellie Charity Cycle

Vintage Garden Party

DOG SHOW
Where: Cavan Rugby Club

What: Elena’s Dog Grooming Dog Show. Classes to suit every dog and great prizes, Family Fun & Games including bubble soccer. Great day out come along and join the fun. Profits donated to the Cavan SPCA.

Jamboree fun day
Where: Killinkere
When: Sunday June 5
What: 30 local exhibitors with a varied range of foods, beers, wines, ciders and crafts will display at our first ever 'Taste of Killinkere’ Family Fun Day starts at 1pm. Adults €5; children free.
Killinkere Wonderland - magical play area; themed activity house plus lots of fun and outdoor activities. Killinkere over 35’s senior men football team will play Denn at 6pm as a challenge match in preparation for Denn Legend event on June 25.
The weekend also includes Dog Show, Football, Golf, Senior Citizen’s Party and much more. Finally the 40th Year Party with music by Stephen Flanagan, Lounge bar from 9pm; free entry.

South Leitrim-West Cavan Vintage Club
Where: St Felim’s
When: Sunday June 5, 12pm
What: Vintage and Family Day in aid of charities: Cancer Care West and My Canine Companion. Usual attractions, Farmall, International display, Raffle for valuable prizes, kids entertainment.

Tullyvin Soap Box Derby
Where: Tullyvin Village
When: Sunday, June 5, 3pm
What: Get your Soap Box ready. Prize giving afterwards in the Village Inn, music by Micksie and Ducksie. Lines on sale for Loadz of Balls. Balls will be released down the hill in Tullyvin Village at 5.30pm, first prize €250.

1916 Talk by Hugh O’Brien
Where: Cootehill Library
When: Tuesday, June 7, 7.30pm
What: Maudabawn ICA is hosting a history talk 'Aspects of the 1916 Rising’ by Hugh O’Brien. The talk will focus on who sought the Rising and why it happened. Booking essential: 049 5559 873.

Leitrim Astronomy Club
Where: Ballinamore Library.
When: Thursday, June 9, 7pm
What: The next meeting of the new Leitrim Astronomy Club. A Beginner’s lecture/presentation by Irish Federation of Astronomical Societies’ former chair Seanie Morris. He is also secretary of the Midlands Astronomy Club out of Tullamore. It was hoped to have Seanie there in person but this time unfortunately he could not make it. However, he will give his presentation online via the library’s big screen. Everyone welcome to come along.
