English tops bill at Cootehill fundraiser

Michael English and his band are set to headline the fifth annual John McIntyre fundraising event in the Errigal Hotel, Cootehill, this Friday evening, September 9, at 8.30pm.

The event is in aid of Drumlin House Training Centre and St Christopher’s Hospice and the compere is Joe Finnegan from Northern Sound.
This annual event, which has raised in the region of €51,000 for these charities to date, is always a super night of entertainment with huge crowds descending on the Errigal Hotel from the time the doors open at 7.30pm.
Many of Ireland’s star performers will be taking to the stage on the night including Eamon Jackson, John Glenn, Shane Owens, Mary Prendergast, Pat McKenna, Kerry Fearan and John McIntyre of Downtown Country Radio.
There will also be a super raffle on the night with top prizes. Admission is €20.

FRIDAY

Table Quiz
Where: Kilbracken Arms Hotel, Carrigallen.
When: Friday, September 9
What: A great night of questions and prizes is promised in Kilbracken Arms Hotel, Carrigallen. David Mimna is hosting the Table Quiz to help his fundraising for Gowna GFC Strictly Come Dancing. Table quiz commences at 9pm.

Cavan Christian Bookshop
Where: Cloverhill Hall
When: Friday, September 9, at 8pm.
A Gospel Concert will be held in the hall. It will feature the Ballybay Country Gospel Group, Phil Nally and many more artists. MC Leon McDermott. Freewill offering. Refreshments will be served and everyone welcome.

Fundraising Table Quiz
Where: The Square Bar, Bailieboro.
When: Friday, September 9, at 9pm.
What: Bailieboro Shamrocks GAA Ladies are holding a Fundraising ‘Table Quiz’ in Nixys, The Square Bar at 9pm. Everyone welcome and all support greatly appreciated!

 

SATURDAY

Social dancing
Where: Community Centre, Bailieborough
When: Saturday, September 10
What: Social dancing with music by Michael and Philomena O’Brien. Dancing 10pm-12.30am.

Harvest Run
Where: Derryheen Church, Bultersbridge
When: Saturday, September 10, starting from at 12 noon
What: A 10k/5k fun run/walk in aid of church funds and St Christopher’s Hospice. Registration begins at 11am. Adults €10, children €5 and families €20. Refreshments will be provided. Everyone welcome.

Roald Dahl Day
Where: Cootehill Library
When: Saturday, September 10, from 3-4pm
What: Join in the biggest ever worldwide celebration of Roald Dahl Day marking 100 years since his birth. All the family is invited to join in reading, games, art, fun and maybe even chocolate! No booking required – just come along. Roald Dahl Fancy dress welcome but not essential. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Social Dancing
Where: Kilbrackan Arms Hotel
When: Saturday, September 10, from 10pm to 12.30am
What: Dancing and music to ‘The Lancers’. Dance lessons every Tuesday night at 7.30pm. All welcome!

A Night At The Mart
Where: Drumlane Community Centre
When: Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10, 8pm
What: Joe McManus’s play A Night At The Mart will continue to run this weekend in Drumlane Community Centre. This is a fabulous play and well worth a watch Saturday and Sunday night at 8pm. Entry €10.

SUNDAY

Road race
Where: Killinkere GFC centre
When: Sunday, September 11, noon
What: Race event with 1/2 marathon, 10km and family 5km race. €1,000 in prize money and T shirt for first 300. All funds raised will go towards Laneway improvement at Killinkere centre. Enter online with Run Ireland or sign up on the day. More details on Killinkere Runs facebook page.

LARCC 5KM Walk/Run
Where: Multyfarnham, Mullingar
When: Sunday, September 11, 12 noon

Songs of Praise

Charity Cycle

What: In aid of Cavan Autism Parents Support (CAPS) Group. Registration for 80km at 9am and leaving at 10am, registration for Fun Cycle at 11am and leaving at 12am, cyclists €20. U16 €10 accompanied by adult, hot refreshments afterwards, all support appreciated.

Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Family Run
Where: Killinkere
