This Saturday night, Derek Ryan and his band come rolling into town at the Hotel Kilmore. The main man is on stage at 11pm and it’s €15 into the gig.
In recent times, this man has been on many exciting endeavours, as his manager, Brian Jordan, has been telling The Anglo Celt this week.
“He done the Monaghan Town Centre back in June and this week, he done the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival,” Brian Jordan explained.
Derek is also fresh from his appearance on ‘Up for the Match’ last Saturday night on RTE 1 television on the eve of the All-Ireland Hurling Final between Kilkenny and Tipperary.
Derek’s had a successful career on the road over the last six years, and it seems that his reach is now going beyond Ireland and the UK. “Recently he done a special with Daniel O’Donnell for the PBS network in America, where he performed four songs,” Mr Jordan explains. The programme airs in the States firstly in Detroit in November, after which 300 channels across America will be showing it next March.
The Sligo man is also recording a live concert for TG4 tonight as we go to print. “He’s doing a programme called ‘Opraidh an Iúir’, his own live concert in Newry, which will then be shown later on in the year,” his manager explains.

Ploughing on
If that wasn’t enough, those of you who are going to the Ploughing Championships this year will also have a chance to see him in action, on the 20th and the 21st of this month. So you can bring your dancing boots as well as your wellies!
Derek also has a new album coming out on October 21, with lots of new material on it that he wrote himself, proving himself to be quite the songsmith.
Things in his life off the stage are looking rosy too, when he tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend back in June.
So don’t miss a great night out with Derek Ryan, coming to you this Saturday at the Hotel Kilmore.
