Seven arrested as shots fired in Cavan Town last night

Gardai in Cavan Town have arrested seven people as part of an investigation into an incident that occurred on an estate in the town involving a firearm.
The Anglo-Celt understands that a number shots were fired some time after midnight last night on the Ardkeen estate, east of the town.
The are no reported injuries as yet and the Garda Press Office would only release a short statement confirming the incident:
“Gardai in Cavan are investigating a report of a number of shots fires in the Ardkeen Estate shortly after midnight this morning (May 16). The investigating ongoing and no injuries have been reported.”

Arrests

The Celt, however, understands that five men and two women, ranging in age from their late 20s to mid-30s, were arrested for suspected firearms offences under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act. They are being held at Cavan, Bailieborough and Monaghan garda stations and can be detained for up to 48 hours.
