Strypes set for slane

By Beth Carolan

The Strypes are lining up as a support act for ‘The Foo Fighters’ in Slane this Saturday, May 30.
Set to be the biggest gig of the Cavan lads’ music careers to date, a crowd of 80,000 including a large Cavan contingent, is expected at the Meath Castle venue.
Other acts on the bill include Hozier, Ash and The Kaiser Chiefs.
Manager Niall Walsh told the Celt on Tuesday that excitement is at fever pitch among the band members. “Naturally they’re very excited about it,” he said.
Ironically, a couple of weeks before The Strypes were announced for Slane in March, they played a gig to a small crowd of about 80 people in Boyle’s Bar in Slane. Guitarist Josh McClorey jokingly told the crowd: “This might be our only chance to play Slane.”
How wrong he was or perhaps it was tongue in cheek!
Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl has previously spoke of his admiration for the Cavan band on US TV show ‘Chelsea Lately’ last year describing them as “unbelievable” and “amazing”.
Since releasing their first album ‘Snapshot’ in 2013, The Strypes have been going from strength to strength and this incredible gig is yet another stepping stone in their career. Their new album ‘Little Victories’ is about to be released and is available to pre-order
