Neven kicked off the festival and returns to the stage at 5pm this afternoon.

The taste of cavan festival is in full swing

The Taste of Cavan food festival kicked off this morning with the official opening from our very own celebrity chef Neven Maguire, who introduced a host of demonstrations, exhibitions, fun events and music. Tens of thousands are expected to flock to Cavan Equestrian Centre today and tomorrow in what organisers described as a 'food frenzy'!

At 1pm Neven gave his cookery demonstration but don't worry if you miss out on the Blacklion culinary whiz as he returns later today at 5pm with another to give foodies a second bite of the cherry.

At 2.30pm Shane Smith, the head pastry chef at Fallon & Byrne and Coole Swan Irish Liquer takes to the stage with his delicious demonstration. At 4pm, the cameras will be on RTÉ star 'The No Salt Chef' Brian McDermott who will serve up his innovative, healthy brand of recipes and at 7pm - after Neven's second helping - Dunbrody House proprietor Chef Kevin Dundon will put the more into mor(e)sels (sorry!) by showcasing his talents for the gourmand in you.

from 8.30-10pm awards will be presented to the best new product and best new stand at the festival and all this will be rounded off by a performance from the Cavan Big Band.

Around 35,000 people attended last year's festival and even more are expected this year so get down to the Cavan Equestrian Centre before all the treats are gone!
