Tony McLaughlin was elected tonight

SLIGO LEITRIM FINAL COUNT

Fianna Fáil were the big winners in Sligo-Leitrim returning two deputies from four. Marc MacSharry and Eamon Scanlon book-ended the election celebrations, with Sinn Féin's Martin Kenny and Fine Gael's Tony McLaughlin being elected. Only MacSharry and Kenny made the quota of 12,468.

Returning officer Padraig O'Grady announced the election of McLaughlin and Scanlon  in front of hundreds of supporters in the Clarion Hotel, Sligo as the count threatened to enter a third day. It took 12 counts before MacSharry was elected and 15 counts before McLoughlin and Scanlon made the grade.
