HSE investigates two baby deaths at Cavan hospital

Investigations are under way into the deaths of two babies at Cavan General Hospital.

The Health Service Executive is investigating the circumstances surrounding two separate cases in which babies died at Cavan General Hospital in the past seven days.

Last Wednesday, it is understood a baby died following an emergency Caesarean section, while a second death happened yesterday morning and a review is also now said to be underway.

The RCSI Hospitals Group confirmed that two investigations have commenced directly in regard to the events at Cavan General Hospital.

However, the hospital has declined to comment, saying: “It is not the policy of Cavan General Hospital to comment on individual cases”.
