Thieves target farm three times in as many years

A farmer, who had 10 animals stolen from his farm on Monday night, has said it is the third time he has been targeted in as many years.

Sean Timmons (47) lost a cow and nine yearling animals from his dairy farm at Gannon’s Cross on the Clones side of Cloverhill during the night of June 20 from a shed that had only been built a few years ago for housing animals.
Gardaí in Belturbet are investigating and have appealed to anyone with information in relation to the thefts to contact them in confidence.

This latest theft is one of many that has hit the Gannon’s Cross area in recent years. In that space of time, a shed belonging to a Garda was broken into and lawnmowers and trailers were stolen; while at another premises belonging to another individual, two saws were stolen.

“There isn’t a house in this area that hasn’t been hit in the last five years,” Mr Timmons lamented.

Belturbet Garda Station can be contacted on 049-9522122.
