A kind hearted Arva girl Rhiannon Mulligan donated her hair in an act of generosity to children receiving treatment for cancer.

The 10-year-old's proud parents Patrick and Sinead Mulligan were present to witness their daughter having her hair cut for donation to the ‘Little Princess Trust', which provides real hair wigs for children with hair loss due to cancer treatment in Ireland and England. There is no charge for the wigs to the family of the recipient child.
Rhiannon was supported in the initiative by her friends from St Mary's Arva NS.
Patrick Mulligan said that Rhiannon also raised €970 with the use of donation cards and the community, friends and family were all very generous.
Sinead said her daughter had
been growing her hair for over two years.
Following the haircut, Rhiannon said: “I feel that I wish I had it cut before this – because I love it so muchâ€.
Rhiannon who will be going into fifth class in September said she would consider growing her hair again and making a future donation.
Terry Eyre at Tangos Kids Hair Salon in Farnham Street in Cavan Town was tasked with cutting 14 inches off Rhiannon's hair. She added that a lot of the girls are growing their hair long nowadays and it is wonderful that they are having it cut for such a great cause.
