Bishop announces Diocesan changes

Bishop Leo O'Reilly has announced the a number of changes across the Diocese of Kilmore, following two priests taking sabbatical leave and four others set to retire.

All changes are to take effect on September 1, 2017.

They include the retirement of Fr Fintan McKiernan, P.P in Derrylin, who will become a resident priest in the parish of Kildallan, while Fr Brian McElhinney, P.P in Lavey is set to take a similar course of action and become Curate in the village of Butlersbridge.

Both Fr Frank Kelleher, P.P in Castlerahan and Fr Eamonn Bredin, resident priest in Drumkilly will also retire.

Among those to take Sabbatical Leave include Fr Martin Gilcreest, Chaplain Cavan General Hospital; and Fr Paul Prior, Director of Formation at St Patrick's College, Maynooth.

Among the priests set to move within Diocese is Fr. Gerard Alwill, P.P., V.F from Drumkeerin to be P.P., V.F in Derrylin, and Fr Maurice McMorrow, P.P in Ballinaglera to be P.P. Kinawley/Killesher.

Fr. Tom Mannion C.C of Glencar and Chaplain to Our Lady's Hospital, Manorhamilton to be P.P. Ballinaglera will replace Fr McMorrow.

Fr Donal Kilduff, Diocesan Secretary and resident priest Kildallan, will meanwhile become resident priest in the town of Belturbet, while also continuing his role in aid of the Bishop.

Fr Kevin Donohoe, Administrator Cavan will under then changes become P.P., V.F in Castlerahan, and resident in Ballyjamesduff, with Fr Kevin Fay, resident priest Lavey, to serve as Administrator in Cavan.

Fr Andrew Tully, C.C in Ballyjamesduff will in future serve as P.P to Lavey and chaplain St Patrick's College, while Fr Tom McManus returns from Sabbatical Leave to take up position as P.P., V.F in Drumkeerin

Fr Gabriel Kelly, formerly P.P. Kinawley/Killesher, will serve as part-time curate in Cavan with additional chaplaincy duties, and Fr Darragh Connolly, resident priest in Cavan will be resident priest Drumkilly.

Finally, Fr Sean Maguire, C.C in Butlersbridge will be C.C. Glencar and Chaplain to Our Lady's Hospital, Manorhamilton, with Fr Callistus Isara, MSP, on Sabbatical leave from The Missionary Society of St Paul, to be C.C in Munterconnaught.
