New Text Alert scheme for Redhills area

In response to community concerns over the increase in burglaries in the Redhills area, a broadly-based community Text Alert scheme has been initiated.

A meeting was held in Killoughter Hall Wednesday evening to launch the initiative and inform people as to how it works and get them signed up.
The hall was packed with representatives from every townland in the area people have volunteered to get residents and businesses in the area signed up to the text alert facility, in liaison with the Gardaí.
The meeting was chaired by Garda Sean Dorris and Garda Mick Duffy who gave an insight into how the modern text alert scheme works. The Liaison Garda Kenny Dolan was also present.
The meeting was also addressed by Vanessa Clarke, Community Alert Development Alert Officer with Muintir na Tire and Jonathan Kane, chairman of the successful Ballyhaise Text Alert scheme.
A new Redhills Text Alert Committee was established with Niall Murphy selected as chairman; Martina O'Rourke as secretary; Brian Tully as PRO and Eileen Faulkner as assistant treasurer. Alan Sheridan is the Text Liaison person.
